Episode 15 – The Lip Strikes Jack

The Hip and the Lip discuss the state of the Islanders’ 2015-16 season as five regular season games remain in a tight playoff race.  The Islanders recently have taken care of business against teams out of the playoff race but have not matched up well against playoff bound teams.  The Lip blasts comments coach Jack Capuano made during the postgame conference following the Islanders’ blowout loss at home against the Penguins.  The Hip offers his anticipated state of mind for when he watches the remaining regular season games.  And  finally the Lip offers changes to the Islanders’ lineup that we want but don’t expect the coach to implement.

Episode 14 – Separate the Clutter

The Hip and the Lip recap the Islanders’ games against the Flyers, Senators, Lightning, and Hurricanes, the Lip calls out the good (Clutterbuck) and the bad (Bailey and Hickey), the Hip identifies the primary reason the Islanders and Penguins seem to be heading in different directions, and the Lip demands lineup changes for the Islanders’ eight remaining regular season games.

Episode 13 – A Mosey By Any Other Name

The Hip and the Lip recap the Islanders’ games against the Panthers, Penguins, Predators, and Stars, the Lip schedules his rant on the casual approach to defensive hockey by a select few Islander players, and Rob of Road Ice Travels joins the show to discuss his recent thoughts on the team and his role in organizing fan trips to Islander road games.

Episode 12 – March Madness

The Hip and the Lip recap the conclusion of the Islanders’ games against the Penguins, Maple Leafs, and Bruins, they discuss Thomas Greiss’ ascension to #1 on the goalie depth chart (due to injury), the Hip attempts to describe a couple of quality plays by Ryan Pulock, the Hip asks the Lip to put on a coaching fedora to make a decision on who to start, and the Lip anxiously awaits Calvin de Haan’s return to action.

Episode 11 – The Greisster

The Hip and the Lip recap the conclusion of the Islanders’ seven game road trip with games against the Canucks, Jets, and Rangers, they gush over the best fourth line in hockey, the Hip calls out the Lip’s tweet about Shane Prince, they ponder the use of Halak and Greiss going forward, and the Lip has some choice words for a certain NY sports radio show host’s wanton disregard of the Islanders’ existence.

Episode 10 – Prince of Brooklyn

The Hip and the Lip recap the Islanders’ games against the Flames and Oilers, the Lip is impressed by the NHL debut of Ryan Pulock, the Lip is disappointed by the recent play of Kyle Okposo and Ryan Strome, the Hip pushes the Lip’s disappointment in the Islanders’ activity leading up to the NHL trade deadline, and the Hip not so secretly hopes for a Rangers-Islanders playoff series.

Episode 9 – Clutter’s Duck Butter

The Hip and the Lip recap the Islanders’ games against the Capitals, Devils, and Wild, they critique a clickbait New York Post article on the Barclays center, the Lip passionately reveals his inner-Garth on the approach the Islanders should take leading up to the trade deadline, and the Hip and the Lip introduce their first guest of the show.

Episode 8 – Goalie Gate

The Hip and the Lip continue to sense a bipolar theme to the Islanders’ season when recapping up and down and up performances against the Kings, Hurricanes, and Red Wings, they debate whether the Islanders have a goalie controversy, the Lip imparts some wisdom of Butch Goring’s history with the Islanders, and the Lip cannot resist singing his favorite President’s Day song.

Episode 7 -This Bud’s for Brian

The Hip and the Lip begin by discussing Super Bowl 50 without actually covering the game itself. They then encounter the Jekyll and Hyde show by the Islanders in back-to-back games against the Red Wings and Oilers. The Lip adds to his natural awkwardness with some technical difficulties that forces the Hip to talk to himself a few times. The duo rounds out the episode with an analysis of the Islanders’ win over the Blue Jackets and a preview the next three games.

Episode 6 – Muddy Berube

The Lip speculates on the Islanders’ use of a third goalie out of the All-Star Break, the Hip appreciates the Lip’s “greasy goal” description, the Hip and the Lip debate whether the Isles’ loss to the Capitals should be considered a moral victory, they discuss their indifference for the most watched television event in history, and the Hip shares an intimate Moment of Zenith.
